“A HOLE IN ONE

Lieutenant Yvonne Shepherd

The Lynchburg Sheriff’s Office held its 2nd Annual Project Lifesaver Fund-Raiser Golf Tournament at Poplar Grove Golf Course in Amherst, Virginia on September 29, 2006 and was a resounding success.  Through the hard work and dedication of sheriff’s office staff and the generosity of over 47 hole sponsors, and 80 gift sponsors, $17,970.00 was raised for the Lynchburg Project Lifesaver program.  A total of 156 golfers were involved with prizes given for the top four teams in each of the two flights as well as longest drives and closest ball to the pin.  Everyone involved enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by Outback Steak House. The proceeds from the tournament will be expended for equipment and training so that the Lynchburg Sheriff’s Office can continue providing this valuable program to our community.

Sheriff Gillispie extended his appreciation to everyone involved in the success of this fundraiser with special thanks to Corporal Allen Bowyer and Senior Deputy Joni Boyd for their outstanding efforts in coordinating this event.  Special thanks were also extended to the following Gold Sponsors which included C.B. Fleet, The Lynchburg Millennium Sports Riders, Inc., Michael’s Carpet World, Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, Apple Ford, Sprint, Outback Steak House and Bruce Signs.
