About Sheriff Gillispie
Sheriff Ron Gilispie has served in law enforcement for over 40 years, and served as Lynchburg Sheriff since January 2002. After implementing many positive changes including the replacement of Wachenhut Security with retired deputies and police officers for court room security, TDO (Temporary Detention Order) transports taken over from Lynchburg Police Department in October of 2002 allowing police officers to stay in Lynchburg policing the streets and, as promised during his campaign, bringing the Project Lifesaver program to Lynchburg, Sheriff Gillispie was re-elected in November 2005.
Virginia State Coordinator for Project Lifesaver International
Sheriff Gillispie accepted the appointment as the Virginia State Coordinator for Project Lifesaver International. Chief Executive Officer Gene Saunders was on hand to make the presentation to Sheriff Gillispie. The State Coordinator assists Project Lifesaver International by providing trainers for new Virginia agencies that desire to implement the Project Lifesaver program to their individual communities. This provides these agencies certified training from a public safety agency in their state which enhances the programs effectiveness in delivery of the training and cost reduction.
The selection of State Coordinator is the highest recognition and endorsement that Project Lifesaver International can bestow on a member agency.
